hats in lartex math equation

Hi. I would like to use the abiword latex equation option to enter an=0Aeq=
uation involving hats (carets) over greek letters. This seems only to=0Apr=
oduce a red box where the hat should be. The command I am using is=0A\hat{=
\Psi} for exsample. This produces a Psi with a red box where the=0Ahat sho=
uld be. Other overlining seems to work e.g. \vec{\Psi}. Can you=0Ahelp? =
