Naah.. I've been been thinking about a little something while back at
DERI, in the days when I was working with that thing called Fresnel (you

Hard to tell without knowing your actual use case (pretty difficult even
then, I guess - or do you want to build a generic editor indeed?), but
atm I'd feel tempted to take the road via some (microformatish?) XHTML..
back in those days I used cwm for smushing etc - and just relied on its
serialization.
