Re: integrate autobrackets in jEdit

A note to Kedar -- I'm late to this conversation since I'm traveling and
don't have much internet here, but, to your original question about
auto-complete brackets for html, the XML plugin is probably what you're
looking for. It does auto-complete and ending tag insertion for xml and
html.

A note to the rest of the conversation -- the design philosophy for jEdit
for years now is to put new functionality into plugins rather than into the
core. The idea is to keep jEdit very modular, so users can install the
parts they need and not bloat the core with rarely used features. The
bracket completion feature is really language specific, so it makes more
sense to be in a plugin instead of the core. Note that jEdit currently
supports about 230 languages, and some of them don't even have brackets, so
it would be a little weird to add that functionality into the core where it
might not ever be used.

I like to think of jEdit as a do-it-yourself swiss army knife, you can add
all the parts you need and leave out the ones you don't. If there is a
feature you're wanting but not finding, just ask on the mailing list, there
is a good chance it's already available in one of the many plugins and
someone can point you to the right place.

One more comment -- jEdit is the work of, and used by, many people
world-wide. For many of those people, English is not their primary
language, so sometimes things come across as abrupt or harsh even though
the sender did not intend the message in that tone. I tend to assume that
such messages are well-intentioned and attempt to reply accordingly.
