My question is answered, I guess. The definitive answer is the Win, Mac, and Linux JRE downloads. Amazingly, the 3 'lib/fonts' folders have the same 8 TTF files. As to javadocs, there is this Java 9 link: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/intl/supported-fonts.htm If all operating systems used '|$HOME/.fonts' to add fonts, things would be easy, but my magic install is going to be "unzip my ZIP and run my script to start things||"||. I hate those "do these 10 steps to install my software", so I don't expect anyone will do lots of steps for me. I guess all I can depend on is 'Lucida Sans', 'Lucida Typewriter', and 'Lucida Bright'. 'Lucida Sans' has all the desirable symbols, but non-monospaced fonts for code is ridiculous. 'Lucida Typewriter' looks okay, but all the nice symbols go away. Unicode ends up being hype. The standard doesn't end up getting implemented. Even if the fonts are on the OS, a program, Chrome in particular, might not use them for security reasons (I guess). Thanks for Beanshell in jEdit. That'll work nice once I learn to work Java better.
