I've discovered a sequence of operations which seem to throw jEdit into CPU loop. To do this: 1. Select some text in jEdit. Any text will do. - Note that jEdit's CPU usage remains normal (near or at zero) at this point. 2. Switch focus to another app. - Note that jEdit's CPU usage still remains normal. 3. Switch focus back to jEdit. I do this by clicking on the title bar at the top of the window so that the selected text remains selected; however, I've tested it by using Alt-Tab to shift focus to another application and Alt-Shift-Tab to move focus back to jEdit and the same behavior occurs. - jEdit's CPU usage immediately climbs so that it's consuming an entire core (e.g. 25% in Windows Task Manager on a quad-core CPU). 4. Click somewhere in the jEdit window so that the selected text becomes un-selected. - jEdit's CPU usage drops back to zero. This occurs under Windows 7, Oracle Java 1.8, jEdit 5.4.0 and is completely repeatable.
