Well put Dale, my thoughts exactly. When I read the original post my thought was “the only programmers who hate the GPL are the ones who want to steal code”.

If the original poster wants a text editor project on Github that doesn’t contain “old code” and that uses a different license, then perhaps he should write one himself.
