Right. I'd suggest further that Unix itself is kind of anti-sandbox. The 
whole idea is to have a bunch of tools that do very specific things and 
paste them together to get them to do more complicated things.

I don't think that's very likely among the current team. We have enough 
to do keeping up with three OSs. Of course, if someone wanted to start 
doing that work, then they could do that.

It does get LyX's basic functionality working, yes.
