The problem comes from when there are two styles applied.

Example:

1. Open up the Beamer manual (in write mode)

2. Navigate to the text near the beginning that says "With the <Beamer>
   class, you can..." where "<Beamer>" has style "Structure". Select
   "Beamer" (either on the inside of the style inset, or the whole
   inset).

3. Go to Edit > Custom Text Styles > Alert.
