If you send me, privately, your preferred username, I can set up the 
account for you.

The fact that QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb lyx solves the issue suggests that the 
problem is with Qt and Wayland, and perhaps with the specific drivers in 
user for your video setup. We have seen some problems like this. But 
others will know more about this than I do.
