So please, do not delete them. The difficulty is that the notes will show up in the generated document. If every translator put notes in there, it'd be unreadable. So it'd be better if you included these in some `local' copy. There's a way to automatically remove notes, though I can't right now remember how. (It involves inset-forall.) You could keep the one with notes in some local branch, then periodically merge the master copy into it, and remove notes when merging back into master.
