Jürgen Thanks for directing me to "Graphics group", I didn't know that feature. After a quick test: it seems to help me out in remembering the scales, but only after I selected the group for a newly pasted figure. Saves some time, indeed. But this doesn't seem to help for the need to point Lyx to the subfolder - unless I'm mistaking?
