Could you all please *stop top-posting*, and learn to *snip*, and
*stop sending HTML mail*. You want nano's website to comply with
the latest HTML standards, but you can't be bothered to follow
basic mail etiquette yourselves? Come on!

They might be deprecated in HTML 5, they are not in HTML 4.01:

   https://www.w3.org/TR/html401/present/graphics.html#edef-TT

Sure, their use is discouraged, but that does not mean "must not"
nor even "should not" -- they are perfectly valid in HTML 4.01.
The pages that I've tested from https://nano-editor.org/ validate
fine here:

   https://validator.w3.org/

When you find anything that's not valid, let's hear it.

The day that Mozilla announces that its browser will stop supporting
HTML 4.01 in an upcoming version, patches to lift the website to a
newer standard will be welcome.
