My feedback is simply: this is fantastic. I think I'd ideally want to be able to mess with the value of CUSHION, and I can already hear the constant complaints online were this not to be introduced as somehow tunable since it is a big change, even if it's an awesome one. Everyone is a UI/UX expert it seems noawadays, sigh. But IMO this scrolling distance value could probably be sufficiently tuned as a nanorc entry/long flag, and certainly doesn't need a short flag (were there any remaining). I think I will probably still enable soft wrapping when I'm editing something with just 1 or two longer lines (i.e. composing email before I justify). But particularly for (mainly other folks') documents where the length of most lines is longer than COLS, I do think I'd want to use this all the time! And I appreciate that it does DTRT when soft wrapping is enabled. But this is also a pretty substantial change in behavior if it ends up the default behavior instead of e.g. a toggle. Maybe worthy of a major version bump for next release if that is the plan? chrisa
