I have not seen this with the X server running on Linux, but I have on
Windows with Exceed. In that case it might have something to do with
Citrix, which manages to muck up just about anything complex,
irrespective of whether the X server is on the metaframe or on the laptop.
I ususlly find doing Ctl-Z then repeating the original Ctl works correctly.
