It uses catgets(), which is Posix. An alternative would be to use gnu gettext where the impact on the source code is less. A third option is to use the X resources (I seem to recall that it is possible to override strings of menus/dialogs in ~/.Xdefaults ?) > Btw, there is no UTF-8 support, either. That is a bigger problem. The world is moving toward utf-8 and nedit doesn't support it. It is not that often I need highbit characters, but when I do it is irritating to jump out into vi/vim.
