Perhaps I have misunderstod something. An example may show what I mean. Our system lookup the entry with the msgid of "PO file info" in order to get hold of the charset used: msgid "PO file info" msgstr "" "Project-Id-Version: PACKAGE VERSION\n" "POT-Creation-Date: 2003-10-21 16:45+0200\n" "PO-Revision-Date: YEAR-MO-DA HO:MI+ZONE\n" "Last-Translator: FULL NAME <[email protected]>\n" "Language-Team: LANGUAGE <[email protected]>\n" "MIME-Version: 1.0\n" "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1\n" "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n" But the header written by poEdit have an empty msgid string. Is it possible to define the msgid string for the header info with poEdit? That should also solve the problem. > > >>(We have a system that lookup the header info in order to extract >>the charset info, > > > Sorry, why don't you extract it from the .po file? > > >>web browser clients. Well, since we already have a header entry in the .po file it isn't broken. FYI: We are not using the GNU gettext tools to create our .po files. But we use the same file format and should therefore be able to make excellent use of poEdit when updating the .po files.
