thanks for the detailed bug report (I wish more of them went into this 
level of detail), but you don't have any serious problem with running 
poedit. Obviously, it shouldn't crash, but even if it didn't,

1.3.8 comes out, simply avoid doing that.

I think you misunderstand how gettext works. You don't insert any new 
strings, the strings are extracted from application's source code and 
you just add translations in poedit. See the gettext overview in the 
help.
