Yes, but so can the .pot file, so what's the problem? Ah, you have 
multiple .pot files? The usual habit is that you have a po/ directory 
in your app's (let's call it MyApp) top directory where there is one 
template file, myapp.pot and several translations based on it, e.g. 
fr.po, nb.po, cs.po, ... If you have more .pot files, use e.g. 
<potbasename>-nb.po, it doesn't matter. The important part is, do NOT 
use .pot extension for files you are working on.

There can be >1 suggestions...
But there's a much more important problem: how do I get the database 
of word translations? TM is filled with sentences and there's no way 
you could guess which word of translation is a translation of given 
word in original string...
