Strange thing is, it works just fine here (on English Win XP) with default fonts, which is what you should be using if you didn't change any settings. Do you have support for "East Asian" languages enabled in languages preferences of Windows (sorry, I don't know where exactly it is, somewhere in the control center)? If you don't, try enabling it. This is my best bet, but it's strange the edit control finds the font -- but then, richedit control does some fonts magic of its own...
