How to get xft fonts?

Hi!

I'm trying to start qemacs so that it takes advantage of Xft. How to I specify
which font I want?  I've tried various command lines and combinations of
set-system-font, but am obviously not getting something.

Can someone please post a command line that starts using anti-aliased courier
at 14 pts? (Just to be concrete) CAn I assume that this willl be subpixel
rendered on my laptop (hope hope)?
