Or a side-effect of supporting xterm tty mouse? Using copy-region copies text, but not to the system clipboard. And there appears to be no way to yank the system clipboard. I'm not sure there ever was a way to yank the system clipboard, to be honest. I'm more concerned about being able to go the other way.
