Appending to file.patterns.bash

I am trying to add .bashrc and .bash_profile to file.patterns.bash. So 
within my User Options File I add 
file.patterns.bash=$(file.patterns.bash);.bashrc;.bash_profile, This 
results in only .bashrc and .bash_profile being colorized - i.e. abc.sh is 
no longer colorized. Am I doing something wrong?
