Hi,
I don't kill the process myself. Grep process seem to use a lot of memory and it stop itself .
I can see in "top" , the memory use by grep increase increase, then the process stop.

It sounds like maybe you prefer the sed solution presented. That's not how I would normally do things, but it's your choice. Perhaps the grep solution crashes work or the sed solution is much faster, but that is not clear. Anyway, related to the grep solution, you asked a few questions:
1) You say the process "stops after a while". Did the process crash or did you kill it?
2) You say "seems to use a lot of memory". However, you don't list any numbers, eg results from "top" command.
3) You only want to display the modified line, not the standard diff output. You can grep for the lines you want:
grep "^>" # just select lines starting with '>' character.
