zahlman left a comment (vim/vim#20989) Ah... I looked up the Unicode block (wondering what version of Unicode added it) and found on Wikipedia: > The Enclosed Alphanumerics block contains one [emoji](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoji): U+24C2, the enclosed M[[5]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enclosed_Alphanumerics#cite_note-UTR51-5)[[6]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enclosed_Alphanumerics#cite_note-EmojiData-6) (Ⓜ️), which is used as a symbol for [mask works](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mask_work). Ⓜ️ can also represent [rapid transit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapid_transit) (metro) rail. So it seems that variation selectors *are* implicitly involved, in some fashion, even though the text doesn't have one. -- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/20989#issuecomment-5234951731 You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
