The first issue sounds like what's described in this note from the RDi fix list doc:

"Known issue:
After updating, if you run the Check for Updates process again, the Available Updates panel may display an update to the 'IBM Rational Developer for i product update feature' that is 0 bytes in size. If this occurs, click Cancel to exit the panel. It is not necessary to attempt to install the 0 byte update."

The second issue, I believe, can be addressed by setting the environment variable:
RCL_LOG_CONFIG_NO_LOGS
to 1

Folks:

Is anyone else experiencing these issues with the latest version of RDi?

1. Every time I check for updates, it tells me that feature "com.ibm.rational.developer.ibm.i.update.feature.group", version "9.8.5.202505201457", needs to be updated.

If I update the feature, restart, and check for updates again, the same feature shows up in the update list.

2. Files named "RCL_API_Log_Sample_1_0_nnnnn_1.xml" (where nnnnn is a different number) show up in the RDi install directory. It seems like a new file is created every time I restart RDi.

Additionally, the file is being left open and can't be deleted until RDi is shutdown.

The contents of the file are:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="RCL_Log.xsl"?> <RCL_Log> <Product>Sample</Product> <Version>1.0</Version> <TimeStamp>2025-05-21T12:01:47-06:00</TimeStamp>
<Record>
<Thread_Id>12020</Thread_Id>
<Event>General</Event>
<Text>RCL Client Version</Text>
<Desc>Release :- 9.0.0; Build :- RCL900iFix-I20210502_2231</Desc> </Record> <Record> <Thread_Id>12020</Thread_Id> <Event>General</Event> <Text>The Logger wasn't explicitly initialized.</Text> </Record> </RCL_Log>

Thanks

David
