Yes, our team is aware of the issue with the Automatic Syntax checking of SQL COBOL failing.

We are working with the IBM COBOL team to get a fix. In the meantime, you can turn off the automatic syntax checking under the COBOL section.

Known issue:  DT270355 - "Using Rational Developer for i (RDI) 9.8.0.1 to edit COBOL
source with embedded SQL statements syntax errors for SQL
statements may be seen when the source is verified"

This is just idle curiosity, Michael. (I am not a COBOL programmer.)

In what way(s) is RDi 9.8 a retrograde step from 9.6?

Has functionality been removed?

Have you considered letting the folks at Fortra/IBM know about your experience?

(As I said above, this is just me being curious.)
