"search files" (https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/searchFilesPane.html) works a little like Google Search. Its purpose is just to *list* the files matching the search criteria (which may be complex; https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/com.xmlmind.xmleditapp.xkit.part.QueryEditor.html). Just that and nothing more. For example, the "search files" does not even *visually* *mark* anything in a listed "hit" file. It merely lists some files and double-clicking a file name in the list opens the corresponding file in XXE and scrolls down to the first element matching the search criteria. After opening one of the listed "hit" files as explained above, you are expected to use the text search/replace facility (https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/textSearchReplacePane.html) or the element search/replace facility (https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/com.xmlmind.xmledit.cmd.xsearch.SearchReplaceDialog.html) to find all occurrences of interest in this file. Sorry if this is not as convenient as what does notepad++.
