I'm sorry but XMLmind XML Editor Personal Edition is not open source
software. It's just a free-to-use commercial product (under certain
conditions, of course; see
https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/license_xxe_perso.html).

Indeed. See https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/download.shtml#about_eval_mode

There is no way to make free-to-use XMLmind XML Editor Personal Edition
fully functional.

XMLmind XML Editor Personal Edition is a very powerful, near WYSIWYG,
strictly validating, XML editor but it has no import (e.g. DOCX) and
export (e.g. PDF, RTF, DOCX, ODT) capabilities whatsoever. More
precisely, the import and export capabilities are there, but function in
"Evaluation Mode".

Only XMLmind XML Editor *Professional* Edition (price = USD390) has
these capabilities. See "Which editor to choose?",
