No, this is not the case. This is absolutely not needed. However a private OpenJDK Java runtime, generally latest version, is included in our Windows and Mac distributions. Therefore you don't need to install Java on a Windows or Mac computer running an XMLmind product. Note that the OpenJDK Java runtime https://jdk.java.net/21/ is identical to the Oracle Java Runtime https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#java21 because it is built by Oracle itself. Simply the licenses are very different. OpenJDK Java runtime: GNU General Public License, version 2, *with* *the* *Classpath* *Exception*, http://openjdk.org/legal/gplv2+ce.html (It's the "Classpath Exception" which makes it legal for us to distribute it with our commercial products.)
