dear friends

thursday 15th of Arpil 2004 I am booked for a DCA flight to Port of Spain.

The flight leaves curacao 21:55 so around 23:00 I will arrive in Trinidad. I 
am pretty bad with reading flight information so I can't tell you which 
flight number and what exact time I will arrive. I need to call the DCA and 
get that information to you asap.

I have not booked a hotel yet. Any recommendations as to which hotel I should 
book, are very welcome. As you know I toy around with 486 computers 
occasionally, which means I don't want anything fancy, but I am not looking 
for the YMCA or a roach hotel. Preferably with airco and private bathroom.

If someone is in the line of making money off tourists (which I practically 
am), I don't mind renting your extra appartment for a week. However, I don't 
want to intrude in your homes and kitchens and bathrooms, so only if you have 
a really seperate appartment for rent, I would consider it. Also, I need 
something near public tranportation, but preferably not in the middle of a 
busy street. I like my quiet. Hmm. Difficult !? Tell me!

Another requirement would be about 4 hours a day of internet and computer 
access. I don't own a laptop (I despise their design and inherent hindrance 
for upgrading hardware cheap) so, I am totally in the hands of the internet 
cafe's and such. However, I'll take a Knoppix CD to boot from, so that I know 
no keyloggers are installed and I can use secure connections to my email and 
servers.

Of course, some appartment with computer and dialup would be very nice ;-)
but if I can work from someones office, after hours maybe, I would be glad.

What I want to acheive with this trip? A vacation. But for me a vacation is 
not sipping the local cocktails at a hotel beach! A couple of hours a day of 
total loneliness is enough to recharge my batteries and kindle various 
processes of tinkering with thoughts. 
I am looking forward to getting to know you better, and giving you a chance to 
know me better. That's very important to me because I see my future around 
the caribean rim, and island hopping will be part of that envisoned future. 

What can I offer ?
Advanced (VERY advanced) linux courses for a selected few. Configuration and 
Concepts. Wide range of knowledge. 
And introductions to my own Open Source projects (well, Free Software 
actually) especially QwikZite, QwiRed and QwiDo. 

I am leaving 1st of may 7:00 in the morning, which is inredibly early, so I 
hope some hard core party goers will stay with me that last night ;-)

Some general questions:
- - what kind of transporation need I take from the airport at 23:00 in the 
evening? Taxi? What price should I pay without getting ripped off?
- - what kind of curency will do? Dollars? Or t&t money ?
- - are there working ATM's that accept Cirrus/Maestro bank cards (not credit 
cards)
- - what ways of transportation are there at 6 am on may 1st,  I need to check 
in early
- - how long from the airport to town (in a taxi, bus, walking ;-) ?

Again, I am looking forward to meet all of you. Be forewarned: I snore very 
loud, I am not a romantic person, I can be obnoxious if I feel someone is 
deviating from 'truth' and in general, I get very, very excited when I am 
behind computers with configuration problems. Be also warned that I charge 
about 75 USD for meddling with corporate computers, and that I will be very, 
very eager to express any anti-microsoft feelings when presented with 
computers with configuration problems that run any of their products.
