 Dear group members:

I wanted to alert you to an opportunity being supported by the Organisation
of American States (http://www.oas.org)  and the Institute for Connectivity
in the Americas  (http://www.icamericas.net) for the Caribbean:

A very successful Canadian initiative which trains out-of-school youth in
computer repair and assists in setting up a sustainable business in
supplying the refurbished computers to schools in need of computer labs has
been replicated in several Latin American countries, and the OAS and ICA are
now exploring the possibility of replicating the initiative in the Caribbean


The OAS is scheduling a regional workshop for January 27-29, 2005 in Jamaica
to explore the viability of setting up one or more Computers for Schools
projects in the Caribbean , and I have been asked to identify country
representatives who might be interested in pursuing the initiative for their
respective states.

If anyone can help me with the identification of the appropriate
persons/people to invite,  please contact me off the list at ngeorge@jamweb
net.
