I will respond to this part of your question so that things are totally
clear:

Burrokeet is an Open Source Software Project. It is currently licensed
under the MIT license which is the most permissive of Open Source
licenses available (i.e. no restrictions - not even a requirement for
attribution). The copyrights are owned by my company here in the UK.
However, both these situations will change in the near(ish) future.

The license will change to something like the Apache license (the only
restriction that this adds is the requirement for attribution). The
copyright holder will become a major non-profit Open Source
organisation. When this will happen I cannot say as I don't know.

I and the other developer on Burrokeet are members of CIS and therefore
Burrokeet is a member of CIS.

How much backing CIS puts into Burrokeet is up to CIS itself. However, I
am keen for the project to remain affiliated with CIS at all times, but
CIS will not *own* the project, it must, for legal reasons, be owned by
an incorporated body. As I said at this time that is my (for profit)
company, I appreciate that this is not an ideal situation, but I am
working on moving it into a suitable non-profit organisation at the
earliest opportunity.

The more of a community I can develop around Burrokeet the more
realistic are the opportunities for entering an organisation like Apache
or the Eclipse Foundation.
