Subject: [cis] Heads up on the Burrokeet Project

Just a short note. When I get more time later I'll give more details,
unless responses to this thread fills in the blanks.

I have been having initial discussions with Anil regarding the burrokeet
project, and they're ready to do an onsite installation at a local school.
From a developer's perspective, the main benefit would be feedback from the
teachers and students.

The CIS is to facilitate the following activities:

1. Identify and make contact with potential schools. So far, we have
initiated contact with Laxshmi Girl's High School which is ideally located
just outside the UWI's gates. This makes it easy for Anil to make a site
visit if necessary. The school's principal and a couple teachers have
expressed interest and we need to do a live demonstration.

Laxshmi Girl's High School is a good choice being one of the many school that I do Tech work for, I
have no problem tagging along for the demo since I know admin and most teachers (especially the 2
IT teachers) personally.

2. So far Anil has giving more or less what I term "technical
demonstrations", in the sense that he uses a few tech terms which we need to
"beat out of him" ;-D. Granted we may not be able to convert some things to
lay-speak, but perhaps we can work around that by not using certain
tech-talk. I propose letting Anil do a dry-run with richjob, raul, a
teacher from the school and myself so we can mold a suitable presentation
for this new audience. Anil, let us know when you get the material from Dr
Bernard and when you're ready. Remember that the school will be closing for
Christmas soon.

Hey guys don't for get my school..........you have my intrest and support :)

3. Eventually the project can be installed in multiple locations and for
this we need to have a support plan. The TTLUG would be instrumental in
this, and to a lesser extent, Donovan Campbell's CLOSF Project and the UWI
Computing Society. This to be discussed separately.

Count me in for support!

About involving the UWI Computing Society, I think this option should remain
open at all times, even if it is one student per year interested in helping
out.

Allan.
