Dear CIS, I'm at the computer for schools workshop in Jamaica. The presentations are very interesting and as a result the discussions are very lively. The CFS program seeks to transfer a model that works excellent in Canada, Colombia and a number of other south American countries, where used pc's get refurbished in different organizations: schoolbased, semi-commercial and social-entrepreneurial programs. I think it certainly gives an option on reaching the schools with computers faster then we have until now, creating technical and professional IT personnel and creating jobs. Some people are a bit skeptic on the usability of the computers, the life-time and getting rid of the waste. Different country presentations are being made. Anyway, I'll send a mail on how it goes.
