Hi All


I am intouch with both MoE and TSTT as far a s the ADSL project is concerned.

Prensently both organizations are doing this project in phases.

The MoE's Gorvernment schools will be among the first scheduled to get the new phone line as well
as ADSL connection.

TSTT on ther other hand will do firstly the schools which ,as you said, are ADSL ready. This realy
means schools within a 5mile circumference form the ADSL stations.
TSTT are working on a phase basis to have more of these stations nation wide, which phase your area
would be in..this I can't tell, but they did say they would cover all areas in the next 2 years.

I was fortunate that my school Tunapuna hindu had the ADSL service even before it was offered by
MoE....so I kindda twisted their arm to pay our bill.

As for the dial-up offer ..it was a project started many years ago...free access was only from 7am
to 7pm..but MoE never paid the TSTT bill and so it was not offered to further school.

TSTT does offer consessions on dial up accounts to schools though.

Allan,

I wasn't even aware that schools had free
dial up. Last time we checked with the MoE
they didnt know anything of it. As for possible
constraints with the ADSL..the last time we
were in touch with tstt, they said the area lines
are not ADSL ready. Hopefully next week I can get
my principal to check into this situ again.

The news is still welcomed though as one week ago
we moved into a new building. We hope to get more
computers for the lab. At present we have 5.
