great! here's what i have in mind. everyone, please have an input in this. We have about 20 PCs (Pentiums, PIIs), some accessories and peripherals. Most Comp. Sci. students in UWI currently do not have much exposure to hardware and can't do basic things like change RAM, install hard drives, etc. Our objective will be to give them some exposure into the handling of these PCs by opening them up, testing various devices and components, and finally networking them into a workable LAN. Thus giving them some practical experience with material they won't usually cover in their degree courses. Once we have the machines up and running, we can then be able to move some of them to other sites (community centres, etc) and keep a few in the lab for test purposes. I'm thinking this can be done in one week, at half-day sessions. Allan.
