Hi John,

the facilities are there to support what cis is about, i.e. being a 
place where a discussion of ideas on how IT can be made more accessible 
to the community, how to improve the lives of people using ICT.

it's not really in the formative stages, the problem is there haven't 
been much discussions in this regard.

what you see on the site is work previously started by some members of 
CIS.  since the original CIS coordinator Ross Gardler returned to the 
UK, work on the Computers In Schools project has been slow.  there have 
been other activites like a hardware training workshop, Websites for 
Schools project but i've been lapse in keeping the site updated.  i 
simply haven't the time due to my postgraduate work.  my deadline is in 
a few weeks so i expect to rectify that problem soon.

basically the CIS concept is you have an idea that you put forward to 
the list to get feedback on how best to proceed, get support etc.  but 
it's your project and you manage it, not anyone else in the CIS, unless 
that is discussed and agreed to.  members of the CIS may choose to help 
if the project interests them.  btw, there is no "boss" here.  you don't 
have to answer to anyone.  we only ask that members be professional in 
their contributions.  i only coordinate the (non-human) resources.

hope this helps you to understand the CIS better.

oh, raul bermudez had an idea a while aback where he proposed a computer 
community centre in the university of woodford square.  it was a great 
idea and involved collaboration with other entities like tstt, ttcs, etc 
each body sponsoring a piece of the pie.  he was able to go as far as 
getting th e POS rotary interested, but nothing ever came of it.  maybe 
this is something we can pick up again with your assistance?  over to 
you raul.
