This summary of a virtual conference in cultural anthro is getting
attention:

I'm placing it here as possibly of use for others.  Growing awareness of
the environmental effect of air travel and our longterm awareness of the
costs to individuals may affect conference attendance in the future, and
it's good to see that others are experimenting with virtual versions.

The body, we are constantly reminded, is important in all sorts of ways.
Giving up the personal exchange at SCS is not negligible.  But it's not
hard to envision settings in which virtual conferencing may compete with or
replace some large gatherings.
