Interesting. There is a rumour that the original Ark of the Covenant is at Aksum, in the church of Our Lady Mary of Zion. This is probably false, but since no one is allowed to see it we may never know. However, a British officer who barged his way into the church in 1941 reported that the ark was medieval.
