Yeah, the architecture appears pretty striking -- even pleasing -- in the first photo ; less so to my eye in the following ones where more than mostly the . . . , what shall I call it ? : the 'wrapping' of what Wikipedia describes as a "stainless-steel ribbon assembly" is visible . The neighborhood doesn't look particularly attractive, though, if I may say so . I am myself as remote as one can get from being a car fancier -- more or less the opposite in fact . I find cars at the same time one of the least interesting and one of the most unlovable and even obnoxious phenomena which inhabit our daily life, and automobility, as it has developed itself and with everything that goes along with it, in most respects to be more of a plague and a curse than anything else . But now we've landed here on this topic, maybe I can just expand the horizon somewhat by mentioning that we have here also in this country a rather extraordinary automotive museum, which I more or less by accident happened to visit for the first time not so long ago . It's in Den Haag ( "The Hague", formally mostly known as 's-Gravenhage ), bordering on wooded areas of the city ** wherein is situated, for example, the seventeenth-century royal palace where our king currently resides with his family ; and it's located cater-cornered across the road from the brand new U.S. Embassy compound . It has a huge collection, which, it claims, even includes the oldest private automotive collection in the world . It is called _The Louwman Museum_ .
