Hmm, the error I’m getting is a classic Proxy error, but IT maintains that they have used the latest stanza. The Gale rep told me that SFX had too many rft tags- would that cause a proxy error? I put in a ticket with SFX just in case. I also tried editing the pars param, with no luck!

Please contact your library and provide the name of the resource you were trying to access and the Host line below so the library can work with you to correct this error.

  1. Add the Host line above to the existing database stanza for this resource
  2. Create a new database stanza for this resource and include the Host line above within that stanza
Please do not add this Host line by itself to the config.txt file because this could cause problems in your configuration or when troubleshooting access to resources in the future.

Subject: Re: [EZPROXY-L] Gale issues

Hi all

We also had a problem with a Gale article/book chapter running into an authentication issue and found that it was caused by the briefness of the MARC record in our LMS (Alma). The link in our discovery layer (Primo) was coming from the "PCI" rather than from our LMS due to the briefness of the record, but once we overlaid it with a more thorough MARC record we no longer experienced an authentication issue.

At this stage we haven't done a more thorough investigation to see if all of Gale's articles/chapters are behaving this way, but plan to do so soon.

Cheers,
Sonja.

(I tried to send this the other day, but it bounced. Resending since it looks like there were problems with the list.)

We'd been having a problem, too. About a week ago our SFX administrator made a change as a temporary work-around until we can investigate more thoroughly. I'm not sure that our issue was in conjunction with EZProxy, but the solution might be similar. Here's what she wrote.
______
I updated the parse params for the getFullTxt service for the following targets to remove the parameter 'url2=https://link.gale.com/apps':

GALEGROUP_BUSINESS_INSIGHTS_ESSENTIALS
GALEGROUP_CONTEMPORARY_WOMENS_ISSUES
GALEGROUP_DB_INFORME
GALEGROUP_IT_EXPANDED_ACADEMIC_ASAP

This seems to force the links to go through a working URL rather than one that caused that authentication issue.
