Re: Wiley/Firefox via Proxy

I seem to be having a different problem - I can get to pdfs fine on campus, and everything seems to work fine off campus too, but off campus when I try to get to the point where I can click on the PDF icon, I just get sent back to the abstract screen where the "check for full text" link is.

When I click on that link, I get taken to a new page and briefly see the "pdf" icon appear - before it disappears again. This is when I'm accessing the article on my phone. I did manage to quickly click the pdf icon before it disappeared, and was able to download the pdf just fine. But it's like the platform isn't working well with mobile devices and makes the pdf link disappear.

I've attached screenshots:

1) What I see when I first get to the article off campus

2) What happens when I click on "check for full text", briefly as the page refreshes

3) I finally get back to the first screen that I saw initially, with no PDF link in sight

Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, thank you for this! What I also found was that, in addition to adding this line to our stanza, the Firefox setting for opening PDFs (Tools > Options > Applications) had to be set to "Preview in Firefox". None of the others worked for me, and still got the blank page.

Hi everyone,

My colleague managed to resolve this one for us earlier this month. You need to add the following to the Wiley stanza:

HTTPHeader -response -block X-Frame-Options

So, the first part of our stanza now reads:

Option DomainCookieOnly

Option X-Forwarded-For

Cookie theproxy=ezproxy; domain=.onlinelibrary.wiley.com

Title Wiley Online (updated 20190815)

HTTPHeader -request -process X-Requested-With

HTTPHeader -response -block X-Frame-Options

Kind regards,

Tracey

Hi Andrea,

We are also having the same issue - initially their support suggested clearing cache and cookies, when that didn't work they suggested updating Java. Finally I think they got sick of us complaining and said that they escalated it to their development team.

One thing we did figure out is if you add 'direct' to the pdf part of the URL (eg: https://uaccess.univie.ac.at/login?url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/9780470939406.ch20<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/0cLoCr810kC133VoCjyojb?domain=uaccess.univie.ac.at>) that seemed to work but otherwise we are still waiting to hear back from them.

Hi

has anyone out there also problems opening PDF at Wiley with Firefox and EZproxy?

All we get at the moment is an empty screen (https://uaccess.univie.ac.at/login?url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/9780470939406.ch20<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/QqmMCBNqgBCMJJ6BiprQpA?domain=antispam.csu.edu.au>).

I contacted Wiley support but they argue this has something to do with the browser setting. As solution I was asked to change settings in the preferences tab to "Preview in Firefox".

But this doesn't work for me! No matter what I select nothing changes.

All other tested browser (chrome, IE 11) work fine. Firefox in use is 69.0.1.

Any recommendation out there?

Kind regards

Andrea
