Re: new resources

Hi Gary.

There is a bare minimum which is always required, which is a title line and a URL line.

The vendor may provide a URL you should use in links to access the content. I have used google to find the web sites for these journals, and used the URLs that I land on when I click the google links.

The minimal stanzas would be :-

T Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy
U https://www.cjhp-online.ca/index.php/cjhp

T Journal of the History of Dentistry
U https://histden.org/journal-of-the-history-of-dentistry/

After that, it may get more complicated.

I moused over the links on the pages, and most links for the journal content were on the same server. In that case you would not need any D or Domain lines.

You can view the page source, and if there are URLs in scripts, you need a java option. I believe you can add the java option when it is not required with no adverse consequences.

In your case I would add HJ lines like this :-

T Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy
U https://www.cjhp-online.ca/index.php/cjhp
HJ https://www.cjhp-online.ca

T Journal of the History of Dentistry
U https://histden.org/journal-of-the-history-of-dentistry/
HJ https://histden.org

If you found links to content on other servers in the same domain, you might need D or DJ lines, such as :-

T Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy
U https://www.cjhp-online.ca/index.php/cjhp
HJ https://www.cjhp-online.ca
DJ cjhp-online.ca

If the journal site has links to public content, you should not proxy those links, for example links to google.com

First, hello to the EZproxy community. I’m new to this software, and in my 4th week in this position at the USC Library.



My colleagues here have shown me how to update stanzas for resources that are documented by OCLC here:

But now our e-resources manager requested that I add some new resources that don’t have documented stanzas. Based on my current (limited) understanding, I would just add them with URL, HJ, and DJ directives. But I don’t know how to assess if any other directives are necessary.



Do any of you have hints or recommendations on how to determine the appropriate directives for a resource?



The two specific resources in question are:

·         Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy

·         Journal of the History of Dentistry



But I hope to gain an understanding that will apply to any new resource.
