Re: New Westlaw UK platform

After weeks spent getting this working (including finding the vendor had messed up the IP range for us - and other libraries), it has been annoying to have it break again this week.

I have a separate stanza for the new site and have stripped it right back to this, which seemed to be working when I did a quick test from home last night:

I'm still using uk.practicallaw host for linking. The new host is not loading fully, e.g. https://login.ezproxy.brunel.ac.uk/login?url=https://uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/Document/IF66464410E3811E5821E8D9EA45291DD/View/FullText.html?skipAnonymous=true
 - there is a cross-origin block on sa2-uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.co.uk - you might need another AnonymousURL directive for that host to resolve the CORB issue...

TR got our IP range wrong as well, or rather because we have multiple ranges they only used one of them. It took a bit of backwards and forwards with them before the IP access worked for us.

I have tried a number of variations on a stanza, but always get asked to "Sign in using OnePass". The unproxied URL gets us straight in when on campus. I have asked TR to check the IP range registered for us, in case it is missing the proxy's IP. However, reading the message that Tracey got from TR, I suspect our IPs are ok and we need something special for the stanza.



I have tried not proxying sa-uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com<http://sa-uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com>, and have also tried

AnonymousURL +https://sa-uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/*



My best guess at the moment is that we need something special for whatever goes on at signon.thomsonreuters.com<http://signon.thomsonreuters.com>. I have included:

We added the following directives to the existing Westlaw (updated 20181011) stanza and are able to access the site.  But, we haven't done extensive testing yet.  Also, we don't have access to Practical Law.

Before I get in contact with OCLC, does anyone have a working stanza for the new Westlaw UK platform https://uk.westlaw.com/Browse/Home/WestlawUk?comp=wluk&transitionType=Default&contextData=(sc.Default)&firstPage=true? There isn't one on the Database Stanzas page.



I'm conscious that the old platform will be shut down in a month so I want to make sure that this is up and running!



They do recommend moving to SSO but I doubt we'll be able to get this organized so quickly. See below for a message I received from Thomson Reuters:

IP Access Issues?

We are aware of issues some customers have been experiencing accessing Westlaw UK via IP authenticated links.

Accounts experiencing issues have been using Proxy IPs to enable links for onsite and offsite access. Although it has been possible to modify Westlaw UK links to accommodate this type of access in the past, the bespoke nature of the links means that they cannot be supported or tested in the way that standard IP links and Single Sign-On can.

Please note that we do not provide support for Proxy servers and you will need to contact OCLC about configuring your settings. We would like to advise all users of these services that Westlaw UK cannot guarantee the integrity of these links moving forward.

We recommend you take this opportunity to upgrade your access method to Single Sign-On. Should you be interested please contact us.
