Hi all,

I am planning to apply for Fall 2013 MS CS. I have prepared a 1st version of my shortlisted universities.
I needed a review from you guys for suggestions and get closer to my final list.

Profile :

GRE : V - 610 (160), Q - 780 (163), AWA - 3.5
           Total - 1390(323)
TOEFEL : 108

Academics :

Completed BTech (Computer Engg.) from College of Engineering, Pune in May 2011.
GPA - 8.54/10 (topper is 9.5)
12th Std : 85.5 %
10th Std : 83.60 %

Final year research project in Data mining.
Published international paper for the same in Springer LNAI/LNCS conference related to the same project.

Part of college micro-satellite project worked in custom protocol development and simulation.

Very little extra-curricular activites

Work experience : working as software developer on a bookbuilding and trading application in a leading Wall Street investment bank since last 14 months. Work is pure programming but not related to core CS stuff.

Presently I am interested in Machine Learning, Information Retrieval and artificial intelligence.

This is the first version of universities that I have shortlisted :

University of Illinios, Urbana-Champaign (is it too ambitious?)
University of Wisconsin Madison (might drop, wasnt able to find much info about research in the above fields)
Pennsylvannia State University
University of Minnesota, Twin cities
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of California, San Diego
University of California, Irvine
Ohio State University
SUNY Buffalo
Stony Brook University
North Carolina State University
Rutgers

I have not been able to get the funding(TA/RA) and job scenarios at these universities. I dont have many seniors whom I can contact.
What is the best procedure do you suggest for getting this information?

Please review the list and let me know if it suits my profile.
Also, let me know if there are any more suggestions.

Regards,

Prashant.
