(GRE Success! ) OT: Responding to muggers/thieves

Hello Everyone,

I recently came across this sad article:

Please remember, when held up, hand over whatever valuables you are
asked, as calmly as possible. While this still may not guarantee any
safety for you, doing otherwise will potentially gravely endanger you.

On another note - when in grad school, if you are concerned for
valuables, don't purchase them, or at least remember, you can hand
over an expensive smart phone and simply disable it when safe.

Please also be advised that wearing real OR fake jewels, expensive
looking clothes or watches is also not advisable.

It is quite well possible to have a very satisfying educational and
social experience sans all these things.
