Assistant Professor, Russian, East European Languages (tenure track)
                     University of Wisconsin-Madison

Contingent upon budgetary approval, the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
Department of Slavic Languages and Literature is accepting applications
for one or more tenure-track positions available beginning August, 2002.

Priority will be given to individuals with a specialization in 20th
century Russian Literature. Applications will also be accepted from
individuals specializing in other East European languages. Designation
of recruiting interest will be dependent upon curriculum needs of the
Department. Requirements include Ph.D. in Russian or East European
Literature and a native or near-native competency in Russian and
English. 

Candidates will be required to teach Russian language and
literature at all levels and participate in all aspects of the
undergraduate and graduates programs of the Department. Average teaching
load is 4 courses per academic year. Excellence in scholarly research
expected. Participation in University, professional and community
service required.
