International Scholarly Conference: "Problems of the History of=20
Government (for the Bicentennial of the Ministry System in Russia)"

8-9 October 2002, Saint-Petersburg, Russia

Dear Colleagues:
The Faculty of Law of Saint-Petersburg State University and the=20
Russian
Society of Legal History will conduct the international scholarly
conference: "Problems of the History of Government (for the=20
Bicentennial of
the Ministry System in Russia)," and invite all legal historians to=20
take
part in it.

The Program of the Conference includes:

Plenary session.

Sections sessions
*The History of the prikaz and colleges system of government in=20
Russia in
the 16th-18th centuries,
*The History of the ministry system of government in the Russian=20
Empire,
*The History of the ministry system of government in period of two
governments, the Soviet Russia and the USSR (1917 =96 1991),
*The History of the ministry system of government at the end of
20th=96beginning of the 21st centuries,
*The History of colleges and the Ministry system of government in=20
foreign
countries in 18th=9620th centuries,
*Central government in the history of political and legal doctrines=20
in all
countries.
*Round tables on problems of teaching legal history.

Abstracts of papers must not be more than 3 pages. We ask you to send
abstracts by 1 September 2002.

The Organizing Committee of the Conference plans to publish the=20
abstracts
of the Conference.

The Organizing Committee of the Conference will provide=20
accommodations for
participants in the hotel "Chaika".  This is an apartment hotel with=20
a two
star rating located near the Law Faculty: Vasilievskiy ostrov,=20
Kapitanskaia
ul., 3. The current rate for a double room is 350 rubles (approx.=20
$12) per
night.  In October it may be a little higher.
