The theme of the 5th European Feminist Research Conference, in Lund
19-24 august 2003, is that of the changing configurations of Gender
and Power in the New Europe  intersections of ethnicity, class,
disability, sexualities and generations. The conference has the
general purpose of highlighting European feminist research and
specifically focusing upon the gender analyses of the changing
contemporary European context.

The European Feminist Research Conference is held every third year
and serves to present the most current research and theoretical
debates as well as to provide a forum for the development of new
research projects and educational cooperation.

AIMS
The aim of the conference is to:
· be a high-level forum for gender researchers from all of Europe
· facilitate networking between gender researchers and
·  integrate younger researchers into the field (the Next GENDERation).


Central to contemporary developments in feminist and gender theory
are the debates concerning the understanding and theorizing of gender
together with issues such as sexuality, class, ethnicity, and
migration.  The problematization and further developments of concepts
and research will be central to the conference.

PARTICIPANTS
The conference is open to experts, established researchers as well as
younger researchers. We will particularly emphasize two groups of
participants; these are doctoral students and younger researchers in
Europe and researchers from universities and institutions in the NIS
and former  "Eastern" European states.

Librarians and documentalists working in the field of gender studies
are especially welcome.  Additionally, there will be space for
meetings of associated specialists such as equality experts.


CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION
Along with thematic workshops, the conference will include plenary
presentations and panels of leading researchers as well as the next
"genderation" in the field.

This conference is being hosted  by  the Centre for Gender Studies,
Lund University, Sweden and jointly organized by  Department of
Gender Studies at Linköping University,  AOIFE (The Association of
Insitutions for Feminist Education and Research in Europe), ATHENA
(Advanced Thematic Network in Activities in Women's Studies in
Europe, Socrates Thematic Network Project), The next GENDERation

The conference workshops will be organised in streams around themes
or concepts, which all may illuminate, integrate, question or
deconstruct the central categories of class, ethnicity, disability,
