National Endowment for the Humanities Collaborative Humanities Fellowship

Financial Support for Humanities-Based Field Research in 
  East-Central Europe and the Independent States of the former Soviet Union 


Fellowships Provide:

--Financial awards of up to $40,000 for four to nine month of full-time research in East-Central Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus

--Logistical support, including visas, housing, travel, insurance, and academic affiliations

--Assistance in the field from American Councils and NCEEER offices


Requirements:

--Open to all U.S. scholars in the humanities and most social sciences, including modern and classical languages, history, linguistics, jurisprudence, philosophy, political science, archaeology, sociology, comparative religion, and ethics.

--Proposals must include plans to work with at least one collaborator in the field.

--Fellows must devote at least four months to full-time research, of which at least two must be spent in the field.

--Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or other relevant terminal degree and be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or U.S. residents for at least three years at the time of application.
